5 Ways To Get Your Mojo Back
We've all had days where we wake up and can’t wait to start our days, and then others where we lose all motivation and that thought of doing anything fills us with utter dread.
Being uninspired can cause us to really not care all that much about the job we are doing or the work we are doing and loss of motivation is the number one cause of procrastination!
The good news is that even when you are stuck in a rut, there are a few things that you can do to dig up that lost motivation and not just get the job done, but get it done well.
So here we go - 5 easy ways to get your mojo back when you’re just not feeling it.
I think I can, I think I can
Just like that little locomotive struggling to get up that hill, you can easily tell yourself that you’ve got this. But, what if you are past that point? Give yourself super small goals to meet. Forget the big picture for a second and focus on the now. What are the small goals that you can manage today? Meeting these small goals will boost your mood and start filling your mojo tank.
Let It Go
Whether you have kids or not, you’ve likely seen Elsa standing on a huge ice hill telling us all to get LET IT GO. While you can’t just take your bat and ball and go home (most of the time anyway!), you can shake off the stuff that doesn’t matter. Don’t hold everyone else’s problems as your own. If you have started something but find that finishing it fills you with dread, do you really need to be doing that something?
Workin’ 9 to 5
This one is pretty straight forward: KNOCK OFF ON TIME. I mean really, what do you think is going to happen if you’re there burning the midnight oil All. The. Time? Listen to the lovely Dolly Parton and try to stick to some reasonable hours. Go home, go to the gym, read a book, eat a really nice dinner or go to sleep. Whatever works for you, but giving yourself some time away from the work and setting some clear boundaries can really go a long way to bringing that mojo tank of motivation right up.
Wanna be startin’ somethin’
Nike was on to a good thing when they pushed their tagline ‘Just Do It’. This one rings true, but exercise some caution with this one and make sure you have your small achievable goals in there. Once they’re set - just dive right on in. You;ll probably find that in doing so, you’ll be so absorbed with what you are doing that you’ll have a nice motivational boost. To keep it going, be sure you get some down time!
ALL STAR
Smash Mouth said it best when they filled our radio waves with one of the best celebratory songs of all time, and it makes a pretty good final point to really cap off your mojo tank of motivation. The moral here is to celebrate all your wins, big or small. Reward yourself for all the little wins and all the big ones too. Remember, tiny steps lead to big things.
So, there you have it - 5 easy ways that you can bring some motivation back into your life after you have felt that sting of procrastination.
